ACTS Academy was founded in 1989 to give parents the opportunity to place their children in a school with strong educational credentials within a Christian environment. They strive to train young people to be productive citizens and to carry with them the morals needed for an ever changing world.

Offering grades K-12, they use A Beka Book curriculum throughout the school. Classes are kept small so teachers can help students who need help while leading the class to excel in their subjects. Chambers Academy in LaFayette serves pre-school through 12th grade as a private school. Southern Union State Community College offers associate degrees in a wide range of study. Southern Union’s Technical and Workforce Division – known as one of the finest technical/occupational training programs in Alabama – offers a number of programs that prepare students for immediate employment, train existing employees for continued employment and promote local economic development. The division offers Tech-Prep, Duel Enrollment and Early College Enrollment. Students can obtain an associates degree or, in a shorter course of study, an occupational certificate. A special apprentice program that combines job and education opportunities was opened in 2012.

In 2011, the Valley campus opened a new Technology Center with state of the art robots like those in local automotive plants and a wide range of electrical, electronic and pneumatic training stations.
